Whilst i was there - I met with Christine DeSchryver Schuler the head of V-Day Congo. As we were talking she told me about Eve Ensler's plan to have a version of the Vagina Monologues be performed in Kinshasa in front of government officials.
If you dont know what this play is about - let me tell you that it is basically an amazing piece of theatre- a collection of monolgues that eve collected as she interviewed women about their vagina's. This play has become a world event being performed all over the world- a loud cry from the collective VAGINA to end the violence against women. i remember seeing Christine's face as she shared about this plan- how would it happen- this is a very conservative country.....well
This morning I am sitting with the warmth and depth of the people I met in the Congo in my heart- as Iopen my email box i receive an update from the V-day organization- it says; Vagina Monolgues in Kinshasa... They DID IT.
I am proud, I am full of spirit- i am full of the believing and possibility that this world is changing- that women are moving in the face of the violence that exists. I am laughing because this is the sheer audacity that gives me reason to keep hope alive inside of me. The thought of the government officials chanting "Vagine" is one that fills me complete joy....
From the bottom of my very full heart i invite you to check this out by visiting the page :
My intention: to open my heart to to forgive all those who violate- and walk forwards to end violence against women and kids on this planet. So be it. Will you join me in setting an intention of forgiveness and action...?
